In no time at all we were in each others’ arms, kissing passionately and pulling at each others clothing. I then headed back to the block, to clear up Garth’s room a bit. In theory, we still had eight days of the block leave left, but people started drifting back to base the following Sunday, due to erratic train times and the need to wash and clean uniform abandoned to clear off on leave quickly, ready for return to work the following Wednesday. There were no private shower facilities, just curtained cubicles in the communal ablutions.
